Augusta State University Admissions
Incoming freshman applicants are required to have completed a set of core high school curriculum courses, including four years each of English and mathematics, three years each of natural science and social science, and two years of the same foreign language. As a determination tool for admissions eligibility, Augusta State uses a freshman “eligibility index,” a formula that results in a numerical score used to rate students’ academic aptitude. Applicants can determine their own index in one of two ways: multiply high school grade point average by 500 and add it to SAT score; or multiply high school grade point average by 500, add it to the ACT score multiplied by 42, and then add 88. For regular admission as a freshman, students must have a freshman eligibility index over 1940, SAT score of at least 830 (430 verbal and 400 math) or ACT score of at least 17, and have completed the college preparatory curriculum as detailed above. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may still be admitted conditionally, but have to meet satisfactory aptitude testing requirements as well. Such students must have a freshman eligibility index of 1790, SAT score of 830 (430 verbal and 400 math) or ACT score of 17, and have completed at least 13 units of the above-referenced preparatory curriculum.
Augusta State University has an undergraduate admissions deadline of mid July for the fall term. The application fee is $20. Applications can be submitted on-line. Students who are enrolled in high school at the time of application will need to have their official final high school transcripts sent after graduation to the Admissions Office. Students must also provide proof of immunization against various diseases.
As part of their application, students should submit high school transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores. Students should have completed high school courses as follows: 4 units of English, 4 units of mathematics, 3 units of history and social studies, 3 units of science, and 2 units of a foreign language. Students are admitted on the basis of a combination of their high school GPA and test scores.
Transfer students and international students will have varying requirements depending upon their prior educational background.
Students applying to the graduate programs at Augusta State University should consult the individual department to which they are applying for forms, deadlines, and fee information. Students must apply through their department, with the exception of students applying for the Masters of Public Administration. General requirements include the GRE or other appropriate test scores (such as the GMAT) and a bachelor’s degree.
